Description
Some hotbeds come with LEDs that light when the bed is powered and heating. If your bed does not come with these there is a chance you could add them yourself. Check the bed where the power wires connect to see if there are empty spots where the components would normally be. If the spots are there then you can add a couple of readily available components to get the heating indication.
Parts Required
- (1) 1K ohm Surface Mount Resistor (check that your board doesn’t have through holes for standard LEDs). Sometimes you can bend the leads of standard resistors and solder them to the surface mount pads.
- (1 or 2) Surface mount LEDs (check that your board doesn’t have through holes for standard LEDs). Sometimes you can bend the leads of standard LEDs and solder them to the surface mount pads.
- Soldering Iron
Procedure
Mount the LEDs in different directions (polarity) so that one of the LEDs will light up regardless of the board’s polarity. You can use a single LED if you are certain of the polarity.
